CHIME Web has been live for a while now, but some users have shared feedback that they’re unsure how to use it. So, in this blog, we’ll walk you through how to use CHIME Web effectively, and we hope this will help clear up any confusion!
Getting Started with CHIME Web
First, it's important to note that CHIME Web is a web-based platform, not a standalone application. Once you’ve bound your device, simply log in with the same account associated with your device to access the platform. You can access CHIME Web through the following URL: app.chimenote.com
Some users have reported seeing an “Unlock CHIME Membership” prompt after logging in. This happens if your web account isn’t bound to a voice recorder. Don’t worry – this is a standard message and doesn’t mean you’ll be charged extra. We don’t have any separate charges for the web version.
Please note that as CHIME Web is still being refined, it currently only supports email account logins. So, if your device is bound to an Apple ID account, you won’t be able to log into CHIME Web directly at this time. We recommend creating an email account and contacting us to unlink your original device so you can bind and log in to the web version smoothly.
Key Features of CHIME Web
Right now, CHIME Web primarily focuses on transcription and smart summarization. There are two ways to import your recordings:
-
Import Directly: You can select the "import" option to upload audio files from other sources. As long as the file format is supported, you can try uploading it.
-
Sync from Your Mobile App: You can upload a recording from your mobile device to the cloud, and once synced, refresh your web page to see it. Currently, only mobile devices can sync with CHIME Web (reverse syncing is not yet supported). Here’s how the sync process works on Android and iOS:
- For Android: Go to the main screen and tap the multi-select icon in the top right corner. Choose the audio file you want, then tap the "Upload" button in the bottom left. Once it’s uploaded, refresh the web page.
- For iOS: Select a recording on the main screen, swipe left, and a sub-menu will appear. Choose "Upload" from the bottom left and wait for the upload to complete. Refresh the web page once it’s done.
Note: If the "Upload" button is greyed out, check the following:
- The audio hasn’t synced to the app yet – try syncing it first.
- The audio has already been uploaded – the folder icon for the audio will turn blue.
- You’ve selected multiple audio files – we currently only support one file to upload at a time.
Transcribing Your Audio
Now that we’ve got our audio synced, let’s get to transcription. If you imported the audio, simply choose the appropriate transcription language. If you synced the audio from the app, it will usually follow the language you’ve set in the app.
The transcription result will appear on the left side of the screen. From here, you can either revise the transcription or export the transcribed content. Currently, we support exporting the transcription as a TXT file.
Summarizing Your Transcription
After transcription, you can go ahead and generate a summary. Just select the "Summary" option on the far right, choose a template, and wait for the summary to be generated. Once the summary is ready, you can either summarize it further or export it as a TXT file.
Feedback and Support
If you run into any issues or have suggestions, feel free to contact us through the website or click on the "User Feedback" option in the bottom left corner of the web page.
We hope this guide helps you make the most of CHIME Web! Happy transcribing and summarizing!
